So I’m pretty terrible at these awards. I’ve had a few but I’ve been incredibly lax in responding to them, so I’m taking the opportunity provided by the gorgeous Triform Trinity who has nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award! I say thank you to him and will follow the rules to the letter!
Probably.
The rules are as follows:
- Thank blogger(s) who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
- Answer the questions the blogger asked you.
- Nominate new blogs to receive the award and write them new questions.
- List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.
So far so good. I reckon I can manage this. Question time!
If you could choose one type of food to eat for the rest of your life what would it be?
Pizza! There are so many options that I doubt I’d ever get tired. Hoi sin and duck pizza anyone?
Oh, I forgot, please introduce us to you in a way as if we saw a movie in the theatre.
I have no idea what this means. Am I with you watching the movie? Or am I introducing myself in the movie? I’m going with the latter.
“Hi. I’m Rob, and you might know me as a blogger. Yeah, that’s me there at the computer, typing away. Oh, and did I mention that I’m also dead?!” *Record scratch/freeze frame*
Would you write in diary or record one instead? Why?
Neither. I’m not really one for a diary, although I should probably sort one out for keeping track of what I’m supposed to be doing.
What is your favorite commercial you can remember to this day?
Hmmmm. Tricky. Keeping it on my blog’s theme, I wrote a piece a while ago about great gaming adverts and the Halo 3 one always sticks with me. Other than that though, the Mr. Soft advert was bizarre and I don’t think I’ll ever forget it.
I am in a bind and in need of a book to read before going to an event, can you recommend me a great one?
I’m not a big reader, but Jam by Yahtzee Crowshaw gave me a lot of genuine laugh out loud moments. NOS4R2 by Joe Hill is also pretty great if you want something a little more unsettling.
You can travel where ever you want…where would you like to go?
I’m assuming you mean on Earth, and either Japan or Australia as they’re about as far away from England as possible. I’d also like to visit Boston at some point.
Let us know the quote that best describes you as a person.
“See him? See that guy over there? Fuck that guy.” – Unknown (probably isn’t a quote).
What is your favorite genre in film? Why is that?
Can’t answer that very easily as it very much depends on my mood. Generally science fiction or comedy, but I do like a good horror film (assuming good ones are still being made).
Being in the mood for good old classic games, what would you recommend me?
That depends on your definition of “good”, “old”, and “classic”. I would always recommend Baldur’s Gate 2 though, because it’s the best game ever made.
Rats or spiders?
What am I doing with them exactly? For a pet, a rat. To wipe off the face of the Earth, spiders.
Congratulations! You are now the new designer for the next new jingle and burger that McDonalds will use from now on. What will you do?
Some sort of blue cheese BBQ burger because that would be amazing. And let’s go back to the old classic: “dada da da daaaaa, I’m eating it.”
A few nominees! I’ve tried to go for people who I haven’t nominated for things before, so if I’ve missed you, I appologise. Check these out!
Fujogee Games – Games, pure and simple, and written in a fun way!
I Wasn’t Prepared For This – Games and movies! What’s not to like?
A Reluctant Hero – Plenty of geek culture interspersed with real life which is just great!
Retro Games Discovery – All about the classic games here, including a few board games I’d never even heard of.
Limited Printed Games – Games, games, games, with a focus on physical versions of digital games.
3P Start – Lots of fun stuff here, including some looks at a few rather obscure (pun not intended) games.
Strange Girl Gaming – Plenty of big game content here, written in a fun way.
MoeGamer – Obscure video games, anime, and waifus. What’s not to like? Some genuinely thought provoking stuff here too.
And for those nominated, some questions! Please answer them in as high a quality fashion as I did:
- I like horror games. What’s the best one?
- My wife is currently watching Friends, but what do you think is the best 90s sitcom?
- I’m a bit fan of scotch. Assuming you partake in alcohol, what’s your tipple of choice?
- Other than PC (for obvious reasons), what’s the best video games system of all time and why?
- Netflix or Amazon? Convince me!
- I like my guinea pigs. Do you have a pet?
Thanks for reading folks!
Pizza is a great choice! And having just gotten back from Japan – it’s definitely awesome!

I love the quote that describes you as a person, that made me laugh! I would also totally watch a movie about an undead blogger.

I know I said it on Twitter, but congrats again on your award!
Wow- pizza, good horror, and I just finished Baldur’s Gate- so it’s great to see a solid recommendation for Baldur’s Gate 2. Man, I love reading these things and learning about my favorite bloggers!
Thanks for the nod (even if I feel like I should give you an ‘I see what you did there…’, haha)! I’m a little late getting to read this but I loved your answers. I definitely look forward to seeing more from your blog, and I look forward to answering your questions!

Yeah, it’s somewhat terrifying!

For horror games: SOMA. Granted, I’m a gigantic wuss puss, but braver folks than me have talked about how psychologically terrifying that game is and how the ending just guts you.
Netflix. Amazon makes you pay even after you get the Amazon Prime subscription (which I have), so basically everything isn’t available without paying more. Netflix has no such walls. We just got rid of our disk service and just have streaming, and I’m totally fine with that. They’ve increased what they have available. We have Hulu, too, and even with both of these, it’s still much cheaper than cable.

Netflix never did discs over here, but we had a company that did. I think they’re still in business but I stopped using them years ago. We don’t have Hulu either, but I imagine I could use a VPN to access it if I really wanted!

Between Hulu and Netflix we’re pretty much set! I was curious if maybe Amazon was a little more giving on your side of the pond. The only reason I keep Prime is because it’s invaluable during the holidays with the free and quick shipping.

The shipping thing is the only thing that interests me about it really. Netflix has more than enough on it, plus we have cable for more recent movies.

That’s really the main good thing about it. I know it pays for itself (at least with me) just for Christmas.
