It’s Time for a Break

After three-and-a-bit years of not missing a single Sunday (other than that one on Christmas Day. You know the one) I think it’s time I took a little break. I’ve not found blogging easy these past couple of months, forcing myself to play or write about games I otherwise might not have done for the simple reason of having something to post. That’s not fun, and it’s very much put me off writing about anything recently.

Being put off blogging has also made me far less active in the community too. I’ve read a great many blog posts still (and you guys are great at writing them too!) but I’ve not been as inclined to comment on them nearly as much as I used to. This is not because anything I’ve read isn’t interesting, more that I find responding as difficult as writing a post myself.

I may pop back in a month or two, or possibly longer, but in the meantime, I’ll still do the sporadic tweeting that I do, as well as post reviews on Big Boss Battle because of how lovely they are over there. For now, though, this brief post is simply here to say thank you to anyone who has taken the time to read, like, or comment on anything I’ve posted here on the past 1100-or-so days. And thank you for posting your content too! It’s wonderful and worth reading. I hope some time away will help me reset my brain a little, and come back refreshed.

Love you all.

  1. I just recently found and followed you, so I’m going to use the time you’re gone to do a little catching up 🙂

    Enjoy your break!

  2. That’s perfectly understandable. Blogging is much more difficult than I think most people give it credit for, so it’s best to know when to take a step back.

  3. Breaks are necessary and important now and again. I hope you feel suitably rested and able to return to the fold at some point — but even if not I’m sure everyone will continue to be happy to see you Liking their content and posting an occasional comment if you feel like it 🙂

  4. Take your break and enjoy the time off. I’m no stranger to breaks from blogging and I hadn’t been doing it as long as you. The breaks really help. Just rest and enjoy yourself and we will all be here when you return.

  5. Lots of bloggers seem to be taking a break lately – and that’s no bad thing! If you’re not feeling it it’s time for a rest. I agree it’s a shame to feel ‘forced’ to play games and write stuff just to fill the gaps. I really enjoy some of your ‘organic’ posts (like the one about the new gaming dining table, which presumably you didn’t buy just to write a post about it).

Coincidentally I’m trying to blog a bit more than I currently do, so I can hold the fort 😉

  6. Enjoy your break! I hope you do feel like returning at some point, even if in a more occasional way, but if not, it has been awesome reading your blog over the last couple of years 🙂

  7. Take a break and we’ll see you on the other side! I haven’t taken any true breaks, but I’ve determined that blogging is something I do for my own personal enjoyment, so I do it on my own terms. I’m sure my traffic would increase if I posted consistently at a set time, but I like to write when I feel motivated to do so and want people to see my posts without a delay because I need instant gratification. So if you see posts from me five days in a row and then no posts for a week, that’s how that happens.

  8. I’m sorry to hear (er…read) that you’ll be taking a break, but I hope it helps. Playing stuff you’re not into for the sake of posts is the absolute worst. Hope to see you back here sooner rather than later, but take all the time you need, my dude.

  9. Totally understandable, we all need breaks sometimes! I know I’ve cut back on blogging some because I found that trying to stick to a schedule made it seem more like a chore… and I started blogging as a fun hobby! I used to always try to post a weekly (then monthly) gaming progress log and it was cool, but it got to be too much after awhile. I have a whole lists of posts I want to do, then I may go back to something like that (minus the screenshots, that was too much work haha). Anyway, the whole point is your blog should be fun…and if it feels more like work, its probably a good idea to step back for a bit. Look forward to reading your posts again when you get back! 🙂

  10. Oh so that is why you said you took a break from blogging!
It is a well-deserved one. We all need some time for ourselves from time to time. Hopefully after a month or so you will be back!

  11. I’ve found that taking a blogging break can be so refreshing and mentally clearing. It’s one of the reasons I do it every November (also to do novel writing month hehe). Sometimes you need that time and mental space, and we’ll always be here when you get back!
